Marvel Snap Decks - Dormammu

Dormammu is a big bad that has been probing the barriers between Earth and the Dark Dimension. The first time he came in MCU, Doctor Strange and Daimon Hellstrom had to entrap him with the Hood's hood, cutting off his access to power.

He's an incredibly powerful being that's not afraid of taking on Thor in direct conflict. He's one of Marvel's most recurring enemies.

Awakened Degen

The ruler of the Dark Dimension, Dormammu is a malevolent deity who seeks to conquer other dimensions. He uses his powers to wreak havoc across the multiverse. In Dormammu Marvel Snap, you can build up to 100 soul bond charges by hitting your opponent with his heavy attack or using his SP2 while imbued. You can then detonate these charges to deal extra damage. This makes him a great addition to any Phoenix Force deck. He works especially well with Kid Omega and the Phoenix reborn effect. You can also try him out in a Shuri Nimrod deck with his ability to power lock her and resurrect her with a power drain combo.

Dark Energy

Dormammu is a god-like being that rules his own pocket dimension. He is a sorcerer of immense power, with the ability to travel across dimensions, alter size, manipulate matter and project bolts of energy. He also can imbue others with his power.

The dreaded ruler of the Dark Dimension, Dormammu is one of Doctor Strange’s most reoccurring foes. His ruthless desire for power often brings chaos across dimensions.

A powerful yet malevolent god-like being that rules the Dark Dimension, Dormammu seeks to devour other realms. His mystical powers, and ruthless ambition make him one of Doctor Strange’s greatest foes.

While Dormammu does have a few synergy partners (including the Dragon of the Infinite, and the Phoenix Force), his base stats and abilities are not as strong as other big beaters in the game. As such, it is difficult to build a deck around him. The hybrid destroy build that features Dormammu is currently the best performer since OTA went live, and does provide some value, but I worry that it may not have enough room to grow.

Destroy

Dormammu is able to travel between dimensions, alter his size, manipulate matter, project bolts of energy, and imbue others with his power.

Despite his immense mystical powers, it is often difficult for Dormammu to cross into Earth’s dimension. As such, he has acted through other beings, such as low-level criminal Parker Robbins (a.k.a the Hood), whom he empowered with his enchanted hood.

The card translates this characterization into gameplay, using the same "put spell cards into your hand" mechanic used by other magic-user character cards like Merlin and Agamotto. While it may not be the most efficient way to play a Dormammu deck, it does translate his narrative schtick into gameplay pretty well. It also works nicely in a Phoenix Force deck, giving you something to work with when you’re playing against Thanos and Galactus.

Enchantment

The word enchantment usually refers to imbuing something with magical properties. The magic may be temporary, or it can last longer — for instance, Harry Potter’s black leather duster was made bulletproof by enchanting it with magic.

Dormammu is a malevolent deity and ruler of the Dark Dimension, who is bent on conquering other dimensions. He is also Doctor Strange’s archnemesis and the father of Clea, the love interest of the Sorcerer Supreme.

This card is an interesting translation of the Silver Age comics character’s narrative schtick into gameplay. The card basically puts a bunch of spell cards into your hand, but unlike many other magic-based character cards (Merlin, Agamotto), the spells are not necessarily revivable or do something special if they’re reclaimed by your opponents. That adds a layer of complexity that is quite fun. It may end up being clunky in some cases, though. The specifics will depend on the game and decks.
